The UK is well-known for its medieval history and its castles all around the country. From London to Edinburg and every little place in between, you’ll find a town with a medieval castle and/or a beautiful Cathedral. Arundel is also one of them.
About Arundel
Arundel is a small market town in South Down, West Sussex in England. It is a well-conserved town with a medieval castle and a Roman Catholic cathedral. Despite its small population, Arundel has a museum that comes second behind Chichester in its number of listed buildings.
Arundel castle has a history that starts back in 1067 and continues to this day. Many original features such as the medical Gatehouse still survive. It also has amazing, award-winning gardens to explore.
The construction of the cathedral, on the other hand, started in late 1869 in the French Gothic style and was opened in July 1873. It stands over the top of the hill overlooking the small village.

- Visit the Medieval Castel and the gardens. As mentioned before, the castle and the gardens are mesmerizing, and would easily spend all day exploring all the little corners of it and learning about its history.
- Visit the Cathedral. The second landmark of Arundel is its cathedral, another must-visit.
- Explore Arundel’s wild and wonderful Wetland.
- Visit the contemporary independent Art Gallery.
- Visit Arundel Museum, a state-of-the-art museum that was designed to provide an insight into the history of the town and its people.
- Stroll the beautiful city centre and support some local family-owned stores.
- Have a nice warm cup of coffee next to the river.
- Have a long, calm walk along the river Arun and enjoy into West Sussex countryside.
